Hosts Australia continued their dominating performances in the ongoing Ashes and registered yet another convincing victory by an innings and 41 runs in the 3rd Test at the WACA in Perth to reclaim the urn and take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Despite England’s impressive showing on the opening day of the 3rd Test, they failed to seize the opportunity and ended up faltering in their bowling department and while batting in the 2nd essay.

England was looking well set for a score over 500 runs when the likes of Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow were going great guns, but a cluster of wickets during the fag end of the innings cost them dearly, as the visitors got bundled out of 403 runs in their 1st essay.

Riding on a sensational double century by Aussie skipper Steven Smith and a brilliant counter-attacking hundred by Mitchell Marsh, Australia registered a massive score of 662 before Smith decided to declare the innings.

England was never in the game during the 2nd innings, as they kept losing wickets on a consistent basis. They were unable to build those big and long partnerships which never really allowed them to claw their way back into the match. James Vince and Dawid Malan struck impressive half-centuries, but it wasn’t enough to make the Aussies again.

Following yet another dubious performance by Joe Root and his team, former English skipper Kevin Pietersen took a dig at Root and literally trolled him on Twitter.

Root is considered one of the most promising batsmen of the current generation alongside the likes of Kohli, Smith, and Williamson. However, he hasn’t been able to score many runs in the series which led to Pietersen trolling him.

Sharing a picture of Root with a water gun, Pietersen wrote,

“Captain Fantastic! #Ashes.”

Following his tweet, there was an uproar on Twitter, as Pietersen’s statements didn’t go down well with fans and followers of Joe Root. One user wrote,

“He is a world class player & a great leader also. You r trolling him… Shame on you KP Sad to see this thing. You should give your support”,

While another user wrote,

“Why really u trolling him. We know he is one of the best batsmen in the world, Maybe in this series, he is not focusing. But I believe this will not last long, he will eventually come back with a bang.”
