Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have struggled to remain consistent and will continue to do so in the IPL 2020 believes former Australia spinner Brad Hogg. KXIP will be coached by former India head coach Anil Kumble with veteran batsman Chris Gayle and their captain KL Rahul set to play prominent roles for their side.
However, Hogg feels KXIP will finish with a wooden spoon in IPL 2020. The Australian said that the KXIP overseas players are all match winners except Mujeeb ur Rahman and Chris Jordan. He feels that there is too much up and down in the side and that is why they will struggle in IPL this season.
“For me their overseas player contingent is all match-winners apart from Rahman from Afghanistan and Jordan. Those two have specific roles in this particular team and are quality bowlers,” Brad Hogg said on his YouTube channel.
“But the other guys there like Maxwell, Gayle and Neesham, they just have the odd standout games, they are not very consistent with what you want from an overseas player.”
“They are too much up and down. That’s why Kings XI are going to finish last.”
Anil Kumble had shown faith in his team’s potential and said that they will come out well in IPL 2020. KXIP will be led by prolific limited-overs batsman KL Rahul for the first time and have some fine names in their ranks like Chris Gayle and composed batsman Mayank Agarwal.
