India skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy KL Rahul have made gains in the latest ICC T20I rankings for batsmen, announced after the conclusion of the three-match series against Australia. The series ended on Tuesday with Australia clinching the third game. India, however, clinched the series 2-1.

Virat Kohli has jumped one spot to take the eighth spot after his sparkling display in the series. The right-handed batsman scored 134 runs at an average of 44.66. The 32-year-old scored 85 runs in the final match of the series. KL Rahul has also jumped one spot to take the third spot after scoring 81 runs in the three matches. Rahul is the highest ranked Indian batsmen in T20Is.

Virat Kohli and Rahul are also the only Indian batsmen in the top ten of the ICC rankings for batsmen. Rohit Sharma, who missed the series due to injury, lost ground in the rankings and is currently at the 14th spot. Southpaw Shikhar Dhawan has made gains and reached the 19th spot in the rankings.

England’s Dawid Malan continues to be at the top of the rankings followed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam. Rahul, Aaron Finch and Rassie van der Dussen complete the top five.

In the latest T20I rankings for bowlers, 21-year-old off-spinner Washington Sundar is the highest-ranked Indian bowler. Sundar played in all the three games and picked up two wickets and maintained an impressive economy-rate of 7.08. At present, he is at the eleventh spot in the rankings.

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested during the series, has slipped to 17th position on the chart. Australia spinner Adam Zampa and England pacer Chris Jordan are the two biggest gainers. Zampa jumped two places to enter the top five while Jordan occupies the 10th spot.

Afghanistan spin duo of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman currently occupy the top two spots. Adil Rashid, Zampa and Tabraiz Shamsi complete the top five of the bowlers’ chart.
