KL Rahul's World Cup Bat Sold For Over Rs 2.5 Lakh In Auction

India batting ace KL Rahul’s 2019 World Cup bat has fetched Rs 2,64,228 in an auction held to help the vulnerable kids. Earlier this month, the right-handed batsman had shared a video on his birthday (April 18) and said that he would be auctioning his cricket gears.

KL Rahul stated that by auctioning his gears, he would raise fund and transfer the proceeds towards the Aware Foundation, a UK based charity helping and vulnerable and underprivileged children in India. He had also announced that the auction would be conducted in collaboration with Bharat Army.

In the auction, his helmet fetched Rs 1,22,677, his pads went for Rs 33,028, his ODI jersey garnered Rs 1,13,240, his T20 jersey collected Rs 1,04,824, his Test jersey were sold for Rs 1,32,774 and his gloves went for Rs 28,782.

“I have decided to donate my cricket pads, my gloves, helmets and some of my jerseys to our collaboration partner Bharat Army. They are going to auction these things out and the funds will go towards the Aware Foundation,” he had said.

“It’s a foundation that look towards helping children. It is very special and I couldn’t pick a better day to do this.”

“Go on check out the auction and show some love for me and the children and let’s stay strong together during this difficult time and all of us will come out of this stronger,” KL Rahul had added.

The cricket fraternity has acted exemplary during these testing times. A number of cricketers have stepped up and made charitable donations for India’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The likes of Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir are amongst many cricketers who have made donations. The BCCI had also pledged a donation of INR 51 crore towards the PM-CARES Fund.
