Kings XI Punjab, on Saturday, suffered a spectacular loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders to lose their fifth game on the trot. It was also their sixth defeat in just seven games of the ongoing IPL 2020. The Kolkata-based outfit beat the KXIP by two runs to pile more misery on them.
Chasing 165, KXIP were looking set to end their losing streak when their in-form openers – KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal – shared a 115-run stand in less than 15 overs for the first wicket. The stand was broken by Prasidh Krishna when he sent back Agarwal for 56.

At that stage, it looked like the win was a mere formality for KXIP. But somehow, the KL Rahul-led side found a way to lose the game as they ended their innings on 162 for 5. They needed 20 runs from the final two overs and with a well-set Rahul in the middle, it looked like the game was still in KXIP’s side.
However, Krishna bowled a brilliant 19th over in which he conceded just six runs while taking the wickets of Prabhsimran Singh and Rahul. In the final over, Sunil Narine conceded only 11 to power KKR to the stunning victory.
Anil Kumble faces the heat:
With KXIP suffering another loss, their head coach Anil Kumble is facing the heat from the fans. The furious fans questioned his decisions in the game particularly the one to send Prabhsimran ahead of Glenn Maxwell. When KXIP needed 21 from the last 16 balls, their team-management sprung a big surprise by sending the young and inexperienced Prabhsimran Singh.

The youngster struggled to deal with pressure as he played three consecutive dot balls and was eventually out for 4 off seven balls. Maxwell came out after his dismissal and although he hit two fours during his 5-ball knock, it was not enough.
And soon after KXIP lost the game, the fans took to Twitter to slam Anil Kumble with some even calling for his removal. Some even went as far as calling the bowling legend a fraud.
Here are some of the reactions:

Prabhsimran ahead of Mandeep or Maxwell? He may well win the game for Kings XI, but wonder what the thinking was. Not like they’re sitting pretty at the top to be taking such chances.
