Last 2-3 Years Have Not Been Good For Me In Delhi, Says Unmukt Chand

When Unmukt Chand bursts onto the scene, many touted him as more talented that current India skipper Virat Kohli. However, the performance graph has gone down ever since and Unmukt found himself in a lot of troubles. And now, the talented batsman once again looks to rediscover himself playing for Uttarakhand.

Chand grabbed eyeballs with his batting even before taking India to the U19 World Cup. Unmukt Chand, who was a regular India A skipper until 2015, was also a part of the 30-man squad for 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and 2014 T20 World Cup.

The Delhi batsman witnessed a dip in form and subsequently lost his place from the playing XI in Ranji Trophy 2017/18. He was shown the exit doors from the Vijay Hazare Trophy but made a comeback later on. However, Unmukt Chand has not played any red-ball cricket for Delhi since then.

As a result, the 26-year-old has decided to change his base to Uttarakhand. He has his roots in Uttaranchal and says that it feels like home there. Speaking to Timesnownews.com, Chand said that he didn’t have a great with Delhi in the last few years.

“Last 2-3 years have not been good for me in Delhi. Yes, I have had lots of comebacks in last 2-3 years….you know I was getting dropped time and again. So every match felt like a comeback match for me,” Unmukt Chand said.

Furthermore, Unmukt Chand said that playing for Uttarakhand is a new challenge and he is ready for it. He has been with the team for some time now and is happy with how the training has gone. Chand is also hopeful that he can deliver goods for Uttarakhand.

“Uttarakhand is another challenge. I have a connection with Uttarakhand…my roots are in Uttaranchal.  So it feels like home. It’s good I have been able to acclimatise here…really enjoying the environment. Hopefully, can do a better job with Uttarakhand,” he concluded.

Unmukt Chand will lead the Uttarakhand team in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy starting from September 24.
