Lockie Ferguson Experiences Sore Throat; Undergoes Test For Coronavirus

New Zealand’s fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is the latest player to have been tested for the ongoing virus, Coronavirus. Earlier in the day, Australia’s Kane Richardson was also examined after he reported to have experienced a sore throat. However, he was cleared following the test. Ferguson played the first ODI between New Zealand and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday which the tourists lost.

The 28-year old fast bowler bowled nine overs and conceded 60 runs by taking two wickets. He played seven balls later on during the chase, scoring one run and was the second last wicket to fall while the visitors were bowled out for 187. Currently, Ferguson has been kept in isolation and the test results would take 24 hours to confirm whether the outcome is positive or negative.

A senior journalist named Peter Lalor tweeted in his official Twitter account saying “In accordance with the recommended health protocols, Lockie Ferguson has been placed in isolation at the team hotel for the next 24hrs after reporting a sore throat at the end of the first ODI. Once the Test results are received and diagnosed, his return to the team can be determined.”

The first ODI in Sydney was played under closed doors amid the outbreak of the virus. Meanwhile, several sporting events around the world, including the series between India and South Africa and England and Sri Lanka resulting in postponement.
