Arguably the greatest pacer of all time and undoubtedly the best in the subcontinent, Wasim Akram heaped praises on Team India skipper Virat Kohli for his dynamic batting style. Kohli’s aggressive approach sets him apart from his peers and that is the reason why Akram feels that it would have great to bowl to Kohli at his peak. He further chose the wicket of Sunil Gavaskar as his most prized wicket of his career.

“I would definitely have loved to bowl to Virat Kohli because it would be so much fun. Kohli is very aggressive and if somebody is aggressive, I always think I have a chance to get him. If you bowl at a solid player like Rahul Dravid, you might not get a chance. Kohli might hammer you but you could still have a chance to get his wicket. Sachin Tendulkar wasn’t that aggressive, especially in Test cricket; he picked his bowlers and picked his situations. Kohli with 32 one-day hundreds is definitely the player of the new era. India has a gem in Kohli”, Akram was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

When asked to reveal the most prized scalp in his illustrious career Akram said, “My prize wicket will remain Sunil Gavaskar, one of the greatest openers. If anyone is keen to learn proper batting technique, then one should watch Gavaskar who batted without a helmet and always right on top (of the ball).”

Akram and Gavaskar locked horns against each other in 11 ODI’s and 4 Tests between 1985 and 1987 were the left-arm pacer dismissed “The Little Master” twice. During the Sharjah International Book Fair, Akram revealed that how he was spotted by a selector when he saw him troubling the then Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad. In fact, Akram made his international debut under the captaincy of Miandad.

Meanwhile coming back to Kohli this is not the first time that Akram has praised the India skipper. Earlier in the year, Akram with other Pakistan cricketers hailed him for his uncompromising attitude and exceptional work ethics.
