Chris Lynn has been included in the Australia side for the T20I tri-series against New Zealand and England whereas Steven Smith has been rested, which saw the captaincy duties falling in the lap of David Warner. The T20I side has also seen a comeback of Glenn Maxwell, who has been under the scanner in recent times due to his non-inclusion in Test and ODI squads.

Maxwell was overlooked the Ashes Squad for the five Test matches. He pushed a case for selection with an impressive show in domestic cricket but surprisingly, also did not find favour in the ODI format. He has made his expected comeback in the T20I format, though.

D’Archy Short, the highest run-scorer (504 runs) in the ongoing Big Bash League, has been handed his maiden international call-up. Alex Carey, the second highest run-scorer, has also been included. Carey made his ODI debut against England in the second ODI due to non-availability of Tim Paine, who was down with gastro bug.

Ashton Agar has retained his place in T20I format but lost his Test spot to comeback man, Jon Holland. Aaron Finch (Vice-captain), Travis Head, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa are few other players in the T20I squad.

The first three games of the T20I tri-series will be played in Australia while the next three games will be played in New Zealand. The final of the tri-series will also be played in New Zealand at Eden Park, Auckland.

Post the completion of the series, Australia will fly to South Africa to play four-match Test series while England will stay in New Zealand to play five ODIs and two Test matches.
