A 25-year-old man was arrested from Kolkata for threatening Indian pacer Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan. The police confirmed the development on Wednesday.
The police revealed that they arrested the man from the Canning Street Road area after registering the complaint from Hasin Jahan. The man was nabbed by the authorities for making several threat-calls over the last two months, demanding money from her. He was threatening to leak Hasin Jahan’s personal photos.
“First it was Jahan’s former domestic help who started calling her, demanding money. Then it was a man, claiming to be the woman’s son,” a Police officer was quoted as saying by PTI.
“He was demanding money and threatened that otherwise, he will post her personal photographs and mobile numbers on social media. The person also hurled abuses at her,” the officer added.

According to the report, Hasin Jahan had initially decided to ignore the threat calls. However, once the situation became unbearable, she decided to approach the police and lodged a complaint on November 22.
“Scanning both the numbers from where she was getting the calls, we picked up the accused on Tuesday night. A case has been started. We are also looking for the woman,” the officer said.
Hasin Jahan and Mohammed Shami’s marital life has hit the rock bottom. A couple of years ago, Jahan levelled serious allegations on the pacer as well as his family, alleging that her husband was having extra-marital affairs with several women. She even claimed the pacer was physically assaulting and threatening her over a period of almost two years.

The cricketer’s wife posted several screenshots on social media to back her claims. The pictures showed the chats Shami allegedly had with multiple women. Not only Shami, but four other family members were also accused of torturing Hasin that saw them getting charged under several Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
