Bangladesh made early jolts removing Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in quick succession but India got back into track with the 190-run partnership between Mayank and Ajinkya Rahane. The vice-captain carried his good form of 2019 and Agarwal just churned out runs for fun.

Rahane missed out on his hundred getting out on 86 but Mayank Agarwal was in no mood to relent. He brought his second double century and finally fell for 243 but India by then were in pole position by then. Agarwal now has the most runs scored by a batsman since his debut playing only eight matches. He also averages over 70 which is one of the best in the first eight Test matches by a batsman.

Speaking on his plan, Mayank Agarwal revealed that he wanted to focus on the basics. He also said that the plan was to build smalls partnerships and spend more time in the middle. He also thanked Ajinkya Rahane during his knock who helped Mayank keep his calm and go for the double hundred.

“He’s (Ajinkya Rahane) a senior pro, he’s played a lot of Test cricket and kept guiding me throughout. The plan was to get a small partnership and take our time. Be cautious, then it was about building it more and more. I back myself and was watching the ball well and picking it. There is bounce on this wicket and there is full value for shots,” Agarwal added.

In conclusion, Mayank Agarwal admitted that there has been no discussion about declaration as of yet. However, the plan is to put Bangladesh under more pressure and go for the kill with three days still left for the Test match.
