Michael Vaughan has his say on the Virat Kohli-Steve Smith debate
If we had to choose the David and Goliath’s of the current cricketing era, two names would come to our minds without a shade of doubt – Virat Kohli and Steven Smith. These two gentlemen are a way above everyone else and have created a league of their own. While Virat Kohli tops the ICC rankings for the One Day International and T20 formats, Steven Smith aces the Test chart.
The skipper of the Indian and the Australian cricket teams are in ruthless form lately and are leading by example. Kohli dominated the Test series against Sri Lanka with two double hundreds of his own while Steven Smith is on his way to conquer the ashes. Smith’s magnificent double ton in the ongoing 3rd Test match against England at the WACA justified his position as the number one Test batsman.
Former England international Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to give his opinion on the massive argument. Vaughan made it clear that Virat Kohli is the best batsman across all three formats of the game. However, the former skipper kept the fidgety Aussie just a bit ahead of Kohli, as far as the Tests are concerned. Vaughan also mentioned that he would like to see both Kohli and Smith play in the same team for once.
Vaughan’s tweet received mixed reactions from the fans. Several Virat Kohli fan blasted the Englishman for comparing Smith with Kohli. According to them, Virat Kohli has reached a level beyond comparison, and the Aussie does not stand a chance against him. However, some people agreed to Vaughan’s statement that Steve Smith rules the Test circuit.
While the war between the two will be never-ending, we can safely conclude that these two gentlemen have made the game even more beautiful to watch.
IMO … @<!---->i<!---->m<!---->V<!---->k<!---->o<!---->h<!---->l<!---->i is the best player across the 3 formats … But @<!---->s<!---->t<!---->e<!---->v<!---->e<!---->s<!---->m<!---->i<!---->t<!---->h<!---->4<!---->9 is the best in Tests … #<!---->O<!---->n<!---->O<!---->n #<!---->A<!---->s<!---->h<!---->e<!---->s … Although I would really like both in the same team ….
