Misbah-ul-Haq has urged other nations to tour Pakistan as he said that the country needs support from the rival nations. His comments came just days after Pakistan’s tour of England came to an end. Pakistan toured England in the testing times of the coronavirus pandemic and helped ECB save their home season.

The team spent two months in England as the players and staff remained in the bio-secure bubble for the long duration. The matches were played in empty stadiums and the hosts managed to get the better of the visitors in the Test series while the T20I series ended in a draw.

After supporting England, Misbah-ul-Haq said that the sport needs “mutual support” to recover from the coronavirus crisis. He then went on to say that Pakistan deserve similar support too from other countries.

“Our tour to England was important for both countries,” Misbah-ul-Haq said during a press conference.

“It was also important to support the cricket world in general and English cricket in particular in these testing times of Covid-19.

“Pakistan also deserves similar support from other countries. These are times when the cricket world needs mutual support.”

Last week, England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Ian Watmore had  said that England should “definitely” tour Pakistan if it was safe to travel. England are scheduled to tour Pakistan in 2022.

The teams have been sceptical of touring Pakistan since the attack on the Sri Lankan team bus by militants in Lahore in 2009.In the wake of the attack, all the teams had decided against traveling to Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan were compelled to play their home games in UAE for nearly a decade.

However, things have looked promising in recent times as the likes of West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have visited Pakistan. Pakistan have also hosted Pakistan Super League (PSL) at home to show the world they are ready to host other countries again.
