After two shameful defeats in the first two Tests against Australia, the Englishmen are in massive trouble at the WACA. A loss in the ongoing Test will hand over the series already to the Aussies with two Tests remaining. The Australians put up a staggering total of 662 runs on the board riding on a mesmerising double ton from skipper Steve Smith and a memorable comeback knock of 181 runs from Mitchell Marsh.
England’s total of 403 looked small in front of the Aussie innings, as England came out to bat for the second time. However, losing wickets early once again, the Englishmen are struggling at the crease at the moment. Skipper Joe Root failed to live up to the expectations one more time with just 14 runs to his name. Veteran batsman Alistair Cook and Mark Stoneman and James Vince are also back to the pavilion, leaving England toiling at a score of 132/4.
However, James Vince managed to earn a fifty for the team but was cleaned up by a peach of a delivery from Mitchell Starc. The left-handed talisman came round the wicket to Vince who was batting on 55 and delivered a trademark Mitchell Starc rocket to dismiss the batsman. The ball pitched and line and straightened a bit to knock down the off stump in a flash. Vince, who was well settled at the crease hardly had any time to react and was left speechless by the fiery pacer.
Vince was rattled when the scoreboard stood at 100 for three wickets which turned to 4 with the loss of the right-hander. England are still 137 runs behind the Australian total and have a mammoth task in hand in saving the Test match. With the Aussie bowling in ruthless form, Steve Smith will hope to seal the series in this Test match.
