Mithali Raj Gets Rs 1 crore and Property from Telangana Government

The Telangana government on Thursday gifted Rs one crore and a house site of 600 square-feet to Indian women cricket team skipper Mithali Raj as was proposed after India’s heroics in the ICC Women’s World Cup earlier this year despite losing the final in a nerve wrecking encounter against the host England by nine runs.
According to a state government press release, state Sports Minister T Padmarao felicitated her presented her with the gifts.
The minister also presented Rs 25 lakh to Mithali Raj’s coach RSR Murthy, the release stated.
The house site is located in Jubilee Hills.
The incentives have been presented as per Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s directives for promotion in the field of sports, Padmarao said.
Indian skipper Mithali Raj thanked the Chief Minister for his gesture and the top bureaucrats, including B. Venkatesham, Secretary, Youth Advancement, Sports and Tourism, and A. Venkateshwar Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman, for their efforts to make sure that she got the proposed gifts.
The 35-year-old Mithali has been the ambassador of women’s cricket in this country as has inspired tons of young girls to take up sports as a profession. Raj has grasped every opportunity she has been presented with – and impressed. Coming to the wicket at times when batting is difficult, Mithali has shown an ability to soldier on without being perturbed.

Raj is currently the highest scorer in the world in the one-day format of the game scoring 6190 runs at an average of 51.58 in 1:86 matches. She also has a good record in the shortest format scoring 1708 runs in 61 games.
