Mithali Raj Hopeful of Inspiring Young Girls Through Her Biopic

“I’m happy that there is a biopic on my story because a lot will be shown about the struggles of a woman cricketer. When we started way back in the ’90s, the journey of a woman cricketer in our country was difficult,” Mithali told PTI.

Mithali added that all those girls who feel that there is no scope for women cricketers in India is a myth and the biopic will be crucial in breaking it.

“It will also inspire a lot of young girls who dream about becoming a cricketer. Many young girls have the urge to play the sport but never get to see it on television so they feel there is no scope. This will open a lot of opportunities for them to dream,” she added.

Mithali Raj is a legend in world cricket. She is a record-breaker and the highest ODI run-scorer in women’s cricket. She holds the record of the most number of half-centuries in women’s cricket and is the only batswoman to score seven consecutive half-centuries in international cricket.

She is the first women’s cricketer to cross the 2000-run mark in T20I cricket. She is the only Indian player to captain India in the finals of two World Cups (2005, 2017). Mithali is a living legend of the game. Her struggles have made her reach to the summit and her story is bound to inspire a lot many girls to represent India on the field of play.
