Pakistan’s former skipper, Mohammad Hafeez has weighed in on the Virat Kohli-Babar Azam debate and given his verdict as to who he feels is the better of both. Indian captain Virat Kohli is undeniably one of the greatest batsmen of his generation. Babar Azam, on the other hand, has also established himself as a world-class batsman in a short period.

This has led to comparisons being drawn between the two legendary batsmen of arch-rival nations. Kohli has scored more than 20,000 runs in international cricket so far and although he might have had a rough patch recently, he seems to be racking up records for fun.

Babar Azam has been a rising star for Pakistan in recent times and has received praise from all over the world for his impressive batting antics. He is playing with an average of above 50 in limited-overs cricket and with average above 45 in Test cricket.

Mohammad Hafeez Names His Pick Between Kohli And Babar Azam

Senior Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez was asked to give his views on the comparisons between the two batsmen. “I think it’s not right to compare these two [Babar Azam and Virat Kohli]. Kohli is a brilliant cricketer and he has performed all over the world but Babar is also playing exceptionally well. Both have two different sides and there is no comparison between them,” said the former Pakistan captain.

Talking about his future, Hafeez added that he would hang up his boots after the T20 World Cup and will continue to ply his trade in T20 leagues across the globe.

“I’m planning to retire respectfully after playing the T20 World Cup later this year,” the 39-year-old said. “I will continue playing T20 leagues around the world as long as I’m fit and performing with the bat.”

Hafeez was dropped from Pakistan’s limited-overs squad after the Men in Green’s abysmal show in ICC World Cup 2019. With the side struggling in the shortest format ahead of 2020 ICC World T20, Hafeez was recalled into the squad along with another senior batsman Shoaib Malik.
