It seems Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its players are in a never ending stretch of COVID-19 test. In a fourth test, after senior Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez tested negative, five more players from the national team have been emitted with the same result. It is however likely that more tests will follow until a final stance is being taken.

The tests for Pakistan players is of due importance as they are set to tour England in July. 10 out of 29 players named in the squad for the Test and T20I series were tested positive. Now, in other tests, at least five more players have been tested negative, which if remains true will be a big boost for the visiting team.

Wahab Riaz, Fakhar Zaman among five player to be tested COVID-19 negative

Key players Wahab Riaz and Fakhar Zaman are now among the five players to be tested negative. Zaman will boost the batting line up for the Pakistan team while Wahab Riaz, who had also made himself available for the Test team, will add mettle to young fast bowling line-up. The development was confirmed by prominent Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq via a tweet.

“6 of the 10 players who had tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago have now tested negative. The players are: Mohammad Hafeez Wahab Riaz Mohammad Hasnain Shadab Khan Fakhar Zaman Mohammad Rizwan,” Saj Sadiq tweeted.

English cricket board had earlier maintained that the series will go ahead as per scheduled but the players who have been tested positive will not be allowed to participate, due to safety concerns.

Pakistan will tour England for a Test and T20I series, which will get underway from July 30 with the T20I series concluding in the first week of September.
