Afghanistan team is set to play a historic Test match against India later this year. They will be playing their first-ever longer version fixture after attaining Test status last year alongside Ireland.  The talented opener Mohammad Shahzad is already getting ready to play his maiden Test match.

Both the nations are very friendly politically as well as on cricket field. But Shahzad was first noted by the cricketing world when he replicated the famous helicopter shot of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The hard-hitting batsman Shahzad revealed over the time, he got a good rapport with Indian cricketers.

Shahzad further revealed that Dhoni is quite easy to chat with in person.

Especially, the Afghan cricketer revealed that Dhoni often speaks about personal life with him. He also further stated that it is quite tough to reach Dhoni on mobile.

“I try to hit it like Dhoni,” Shahzad told news agency PTI on his strokeplay and his rapport with the Indian cricketers.

“It is always nice to catch up with the Indian cricketers. They are very warm. I have always looked up to Dhoni and now I have the pleasure of knowing him,” he said.

“I have played against India three-four times and after the match gets over, I have dropped in at Dhoni’s room and chatted for hours. He usually asks me ‘what’s happening in Afghanistan’ and at my home. We don’t tend to talk a lot about wicket-keeping and batting, it is just regular stuff about life. His room is always open for a chat but yes, it is tough to reach him on his mobile number,” he said concluding.

“Even Suresh and Shikhar Bhai are very warm people,” says Shahzad.

They now possess the likes of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shahzad, Mujeeb Zadran and Mohammad Nabi, who have all earned a name for themselves in the international circuit.

Afghanistan cricket is definitely on a rise and the Test match against India will be a new milestone in their inspiring story.

The Test match will be beginning on June 14 at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Although being the minnows going into the game, the occasion itself is a great achievement. They could definitely be one of the best cricketing nations in a couple of decades if they continue improving at the current rate.
