Perhaps, Mohammad Shami is one of the few underrated bowlers in the world cricket, especially, in limited overs. The flamboyant cricketer, who was adjudged as the man of the match in the recently concluded Napier ODI, also bagged a superb record to his name. Shami became the quickest Indian to pick 100 ODI wickets.
Before Shami, Irfan Pathan reached the 100-wicket mark in 59 ODIs, while Zaheer Khan (65 matches), Ajit Agarkar (67) and Javagal Srinath (68) are the other Indian bowlers to complete a century of wickets in the quickest time.
Shami, who made a comeback in the 50-over side in October last year, credited India captain Virat Kohli, the team management and the Indian cricket board for the role they played in his successful return in 2017 after he spent nearly two years on the sidelines recuperating from a shoulder injury.
