Mohammed Shami’s cricketing career has certainly taken a massive dip courtesy some serious allegations by his wife, Hasin Jahan. Jahan has accused the Indian cricketer of cheating on him and having an extra-marital affair.
Jahan’s claims have cost the right arm fast bowler a lot, and by a lot, it means that the Shami has dealt a blow of nearly Rs 8 crores. Jahan’s allegations resulted in the BCCI halting Shami’s annual central contract.
According to sources in BCCI, Shami was to get a Grade A contract alongside the likes of MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wridhhiman Saha. Players in Grade A will be earning Rs 5 Crores per year.
Check out the amount of potential loss for Shami in the table below:
Amount | Source of income |
BCCI central contract | Rs. 5 crores |
IPL contract | Rs. 3 crores |
The denial of an ‘A’ category contract means Shami will to handle a blow of Rs 5 Crores.
If this wasn’t enough, Shami also faces a threat of losing his Indian Premier League contract with the Delhi Daredevils.
The franchise has opted to wait for the investigation to be completed and will only decide once the matter is cleared.
Shami was bought by Delhi Daredevils via RTM card for a hefty amount of Rs 3 Crores.
A senior representative from the franchise said:
“Daredevils management can’t take any unilateral decision in this matter. All players who play in the IPL have a tri-partite contract involving the franchise, BCCI, and the player. Yes, we are well aware about the sensitive situation and we are having discussions with top BCCI officials. There is a clause about any player bringing disrepute but it is for the lawyers to interpret it.”
