The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) was a massive success amid all the uncertainties and the disappointments that the world was entangled with. Nevertheless, the BCCI found a way to conduct the extravaganza in the UAE and it went by with little hurdles. Meanwhile, South Indian actor Mohanlal is speculated to have an interest in buying a franchise ahead of IPL 2021.

A few days ago, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confidently stated that IPL 2021 would take place in India itself in April and May. With little time for left for the 14th season to kickstart and many things left to be figured out, BCCI needs to get everything in place for the auctions. The auctions usually take place in December and January; however, it could be held a little later this time.

The BCCI has announced that the auctions will take place early 2021 and there would be a mega one next year as per initial plans. The Indian cricket board also plans to add a ninth franchise in the 2021 edition to compensate for the losses suffered in the 2020 season. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the BCCI to settle for a lower sponsorship amount as well for starters.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that South Indian actor Mohanlal and mobile application BYJU’s are the frontrunners of becoming the owners of the ninth franchise of the cash-rich league. Mohanlal visit to Dubai is speculated to be of the same matter. Before the final began in Dubai, the cameras captured the veteran actor sitting in the stands.

Initially, the news emerged that he took a trip to Dubai for a holiday with the family and came to the stadium to enjoy the live game. However, journalist Rajneesh took to Twitter and revealed that Mohanlal went to the middle-east nation to bid for a new IPL team and become the owner of the same. Nevertheless, the official announcement is yet to follow.

So there is more to what meets the eye in Mohanlal’s Dubai visit for the IPL final. Buzz is that Mohanlal, along with BYJU’s, is bidding for an IPL team. Nothing official so far though,” Rajneesh tweeted.
