More Than 15 Overseas Players Ready To Visit Pakistan For PSL Matches
More than fifteen overseas players have reportedly agreed to visit Pakistan for Pakistan Super League (PSL) games next year. Pakistan news outlet The Dawn has reported that defending PSL champions Peshawar Zalmi and challengers Islamabad United’s squads have already confirmed they will visit Pakistan to play the games including the final.
Some of the overseas players who have agreed to visit Pakistan are Peshawar Zalmi Darren Sammy, JP Duminy, Shane Watson, Imran Tahir, Carlos Brathwaite, Colin Ingram, Luke Ronchi, Colin Munro, Luke Wright, Darren Bravo, Tamim Iqbal, Sam Billings, Andre Fletcher and David Wiese.
On the other hand, the likes of Chris Lynn, Mustafizur Rahman, Evin Lewis, David Willey and Jason Roy will decide on the matter before or during the league after being briefed about the security. Meanwhile, England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan and former Australia speedster Mitchell Johnson have so far refused to play in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Karachi is in line to host the PSL final next year. PCB chairman Najam Sethi recently spoke about it at the league’s draft in Lahore.
“We have made a commitment to try our best to have it in Karachi,” Sethi had said.
In case, the PCB goes ahead with its plan then it would be the second year in a row the final of the league is held in Pakistan – the second season final was held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in March this year.
After being shunned out by the major countries for close to a decade, PCB is taking all possible measures to bring international cricket to the country. Barring Zimbabwe in 2015, no international team had visited Pakistan since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. However, the scenario has taken a turn for the better this year.
Earlier this year, the final of the PSL was successfully staged in Lahore before the ICC sent a World XI side for a three-match T20I series in Lahore. Recently, Sri Lanka had also visited Pakistan for one T20I, and West Indies have also agreed to visit the country next year for a T20 series.
