MS Dhoni along with the Chennai Super Kings is reportedly set to leave for UAE earlier than other teams in order to prepare for IPL 2020. The former India skipper has not played any competitive game since the World Cup semifinal in July last year.
As soon as the tournament ended, he took an indefinite sabbatical from the game. The sabbatical would have ended in March this year during the IPL but the BCCI had to suspend the tournament in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The Chennai Super Kings had also landed in Chennai for the training camp before he and others had to leave after the IPL was postponed.
MS Dhoni to start training in August:
Well, MS Dhoni is now all set to make his much-awaited return to action side a fortnight. According to Gulf News, Chennai Super Kings are expected to arrive in the UAE by the second week of August in order to acclimatise to the conditions and get into their groove after the lengthy break from action due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While most of the teams are planning to come during the third week, the Chennai-based outfit will be hitting the ground running early as they look to become the second team to win the IPL four times.
Meanwhile, the IPL holds a big importance for MS Dhoni as far as returning to Team India is concerned for him. Earlier this year, India head coach Ravi Shastri had stated that the veteran could make a comeback to the team if he performs well in the IPL.
The thirteenth edition of the IPL is set to start on September 19 in UAE. The schedule for the tournament will be out after the IPL governing council’s meeting.
