MS Dhoni All Set To Don Coach's Hat For His Cricket Academy

After playing various roles on the cricket field in the last couple of decades, MS Dhoni is all set to don the coach’s hat in the coming days. The former India skipper has not played a competitive game since the end of the World Cup in July last year. As soon as the tournament, he sprung a big surprise by taking an indefinite sabbatical from the game.

The sabbatical would have ended in March during the Indian Premier League (IPL) before the pandemic gatecrashed the party. MS Dhoni had also started preparing for the tournament by joining the preparatory camp in Chennai before the BCCI had to suspend the league indefinitely in the light of the pandemic.

At present, MS Dhoni is with his family at his home in Ranchi. And according to a report in The Mumbai Mirror, he will launch an online cricket academy on July 2. He will be joined by South Africa great Daryll Cullinan, academy’s Director of coaching. MS Dhoni will be the overall head of the project.

“We have done coaching for coaches and over 200 coaches have benefited already and from July 2, we are starting coaching for players. Our assistance will supplement what they do on the field. Mahi is the overall head and a panel of coaches will impart lessons,” the Aarka partner told Mumbai Mirror.

MS Dhoni in no stranger to launching cricket academy. In 2017, he had launched an academy in Dubai. However, he could not dedicate his time to the academy due to cricket commitments. The academy was closed last year. But with ample time on his hand now, MS Dhoni will be able to dedicate much time to his new academy.
