No prizes for guessing whom the loudest cheers were reserved for when veteran wicketkeeper-batsman and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni walked out to bat at the nets to kick-start his preparations for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He didn’t disappoint them, as he smashed five sixes in a row during the practice session.
After jogging around for a while and doing some stretching, Dhoni put on his pads and launched a few big hits in his trademark style.
The Super Kings shared a small video of Dhoni putting on his pads and approaching the nets while the crowd start chanting his name.

It’s been long since Dhoni took to the cricket field, having last played a professional match during India’s ICC World Cup 2019 semi-final defeat to New Zealand last year.
As the debate continues in the cricketing spectrum over his international future, Dhoni seems determined to focus on the upcoming IPL season with CSK.
Under the capable leadership Dhoni, the Super Kings have won three IPL titles (2010,2011, 2018) and will be looking to equal Mumbai’s record of four this season.
The opening match will be played between most successful teams of IPL – defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and CSK – at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
Ever since India’s semi-final exit from the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand in August, Dhoni made himself unavailable for selection. During his break from cricket, he served for the Indian Army too.
