The ‘Gabbar’ of the Indian Cricket Team, Shikhar Dhawan, has named former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni as the best Indian captain. MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains in the history of international cricket. He has been the most successful Indian captain ever. He is the only captain in world cricket to win all the three major ICC events.
Dhoni won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 for the Indian National Cricket Team. Now that Dhoni’s sabbatical in world cricket has been the focal point, Shikhar Dhawan has named him the best Indian skipper.
Although Shikhar Dhawan has also played under current Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, Dhawan feels it is MS Dhoni who has been the best so far.
Shikhar Dhawan Names MS Dhoni As The Best Indian Captain
With no cricketing action due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, cricketers, present and past have gone into self-isolation. However, this has given them more time to spend with their families and fans. Shikhar Dhawan also revealed his choice in an Instagram live with former Indian all-rounder, Irfan Pathan.
Dhawan himself has played under as many as five captains, though most of his career has come under MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Of the two, the southpaw termed the Ranchi-born wicketkeeper-batsman as his favourite. Dhawan’s choice can be regarded as rational as MS Dhoni has established himself a world-beater by winning all the three major ICC trophies, a feat Virat Kohli hasn’t been able to achieve.
Virat Kohli Has Also Been A Successful Indian Skipper
Virat Kohli has been an impressive skipper, especially in Test cricket for team India. Virat has led the Men in Blue in 55 Test matches out of which the team has won 33 games and lost 12 games. 10 games have ended in a draw, and he has a win percentage of 60 in the most extended format of the game.
Kohli has also led India in 89 ODIs so far out of which the team has gone on to win 62 matches and lost only 24 matches. One game has tied during Virat’s reign, and two ended in no result. Virat Kohli has a win percentage of 71.83 as India have emerged as one of the strongest ODI teams in world cricket.
In the T20Is, Kohli has led team India in 37 games so far wherein they have won 22 games and lost 11 matches. 2 games have ended in a tie, and two games have ended in No Result. Kohli has a win percentage of 65.71 in T20Is.
