MS Dhoni will not be bothered about his performance in each game of the upcoming Indian Premier League, feels former Indian opener-turned commentator Aakash Chopra.

Aakash Chopra recently took to his Youtube channel to answer fan’s queries on MS Dhoni and the IPL in general.

Chopra was asked how the upcoming IPL will be for MS Dhoni. To which, the renowned commentator added that it would not have a significant impact on the wicketkeeper’ career.

“From an individual’s perspective, from a batsman’s perspective or a career’s perspective, it is not that important.”

According to Chopra, the former Indian captain is at that stage in his cricketing career where he wouldn’t be fretting about how his performance in each game may have an impact on his chances of getting selected for Team India.

“The stage he is in his career, he is not going to really fret about how each match of the IPL would go or whether he would be selected for Team India or not. He is past all of that,” Aakash Chopra added.

Aakash Chopra, however, added that MS Dhoni’s form would be critical to Chennai Super Kings fortunes.

“This IPL is only important for him from one way, that what would happen to Chennai Super Kings. Because the strings of Chennai Super Kings’ success are all tied to MS Dhoni,” he said.

The former opener added that MS Dhoni’s good form with the bat will help him lead the side better considering he is making a comeback to competitive cricket after a year.

“If he is in good form, it would be easier for him to carry the team. But if he is not making runs, then he will not enjoy the game as much. If I see from that angle, then each match that you play is important, also because he is playing cricket after a gap of one year.” Aakash Chopra said.

Chopra again reiterated that Dhoni’s form will not have any impact on his chances of making it to the national side while also predicting that both Dhoni and CSK will do well in the upcoming season.

”But if you look at his career and comeback in Team India and all of that, I don’t think it is going to have a huge impact. He will score runs now also and his team will also do well, I have no doubt about that.” Chopra said.
