Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan has said that MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings’ skipper will play in IPL 2022 if IPL 2021 takes place in the UAE. It is notable that MS Dhoni, on Sunday, announced that he will continue his stint in the Indian Premier League after having retired from international cricket earlier this year on August 15.

The news broke the internet as fans were elated with Dhoni’s announcement as they too, will get a chance to witness their superstar on the field, for one more year. Apart from it, Dhoni also emphasized on the reconstruction of Chennai Super Kings for the next year, now that they are eliminated from the tournament and have played their last game in IPL 2020.

Michael Vaughan Expects MS Dhoni To Play In IPL 2022

Former England captain Michael Vaughan said that Dhoni must play his final IPL game in front of the crowd as he deserves a grand exit from the sport.

“If the IPL takes place in the UAE next year again, which there are whispers it will happen, MS Dhoni will have to play another year. He cannot finish his IPL career in front of no crowd,” Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.

“He has to play at least one game the following year. He cannot go out in front of no crowds. If there is one player who deserves a big crowd to say goodbye to – if he probably cannot play, he would just disappear and say goodbye without us knowing about it – like he did in international cricket. But I want to see a grand crowd for his last game,” Vaughan added.

Chennai Super Kings Have Had A Forgetful IPL 2020

Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni have had one of their worst IPL seasons this year in the UAE. They have been dominated by other teams throughout the tournament and the team has failed to impress in any of the departments of the game. They have finished on the 7th spot in the points table and that just goes on to show how poor a season CSK have had by their standards.

However, they have bounced back quite well in the last 3 games of the tournament as they won all the three games in succession. Ruturaj Gaikwad has emerged as a very bright prospect as he has smashed 3 consecutive half-centuries in the last three games, becoming the first-ever CSK player to do so.
