Netizens Seek Explanation From Sachin Tendulkar After Kamala Mills Fire Tragedy

In the aftermath of the tragic Kamala Mills fire accident that claimed several lives, the municipal corporation went on a demolition drive against unauthorized constructions in the area. And Sachin Tendulkar’s sports-based entertainment company, Smaaash Entertainment, was not spared either.

Ever since the news broke out, Sachin Tendulkar has been slammed over the internet. One such post that has gone viral questioned Sachin’s integrity, seeking an explanation from him on the illegal construction and the extent to which the Rajya Sabha MP and Bharat Ratna recipient would go to make money.

“Your venture Smaaash in Kamala Mills has many illegal parts including the go karting track, which you have created in the parking lot (sic),” the post begins. “You, as a Rajya Sabha MP and Bharat Ratna recipient, have to openly explain through yourself that for money you will go to any extent? (sic)” added the open letter.

The open letter went on to question the illegal constructions in the cricketer’s bungalow in Bandra and his responsibility as a citizen. The letter also sought an explanation on why Sachin has been deleting posts about the incident that have been tweeted to him.

“You can’t feign ignorance! We won’t stop till we hear an explanation from you! Posts to your twitter handle you have conveniently removed! What are you scared of?” (sic)

So far, the former India cricketer has not responded to the allegations but Smaaash, on its behalf, shared through a letter on their social media accounts to explain.

Shripal Morakhia, founder and chief imagination officer at Smaaash, said in the post:

“I have worked with statutory authorities, shareholders and bankers and customers all my life. I always consider the statutory authorities as my guardians and always work hard to abide by the laws of the land.”

He further said that a part of the open area, which was covered by tensile fabric was demolished without any prior notice by the BMC. He also claimed that go-karting track was inspected and found as per the approved plan.
