Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull has revealed his prediction for the upcoming five-match one-day internationals series between the Kiwis and the Indian National Cricket team. The ODI series will commence from January 23 (Wednesday) at Napier.

Meanwhile, it will be a cracker of a series with both the side coming from the back of a series win. While India registered their first-ever Test series and bilateral ODI series win on Australian soil, the Kiwis defeated Sri Lanka across formats. And with the ICC World Cup in sight, both the sides will aim to fix their team combination ahead of the showpiece event.

The cricketer turned commentator Simon Doull believes spinners will decide the fate of the series. In addition to, the 49-year-old said that he expects a result of 3-2, but denied revealing the name of the winner.

I see this is a competition between how well both spinners from both sides are played by the top-order batsman and the middle-order batsman. That will determine who will win the series and who will come out on top. I am expecting 3-2, but I am not revealing the whose will be 2,” he said on Cricbuzz.

Moreover, it will be a battle between the second-ranked and the third-ranked in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. Indian National Cricket team will be high on confidence with their former skipper MS Dhoni returning to form. He struck three consecutive fifties as India won their first ever bilateral series on Australian soil.

However, the Kiwis will start the campaign on a high on the back of a strong home record. India lost the five-match series 4-0 the last time toured New Zealand under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. The only series win for India was back in 2009 when they won the series 3-1.
