If You Give Them A Sniff, They Take It With Both Hands: Tim Southee

And, the same story continues for the New Zealand Cricket Team at the Bay Oval as well. After setting a stage for themselves to win, the Tim Southee-led New Zealand threw it in the final 10 overs of their innings to give India their first-ever whitewash victory against New Zealand in the T20I format.
Chasing 164 on the board, New Zealand lost three quick wickets in the powerplay. After Bumrah sending Martin Guptill back to the hut, Washington Sundar removed Colin Munro.
The brilliant effort from Sanju Samson and KL Rahul sent Tom Bruce for a consecutive duck. Just when things looked all over, Tim Seifert and Ross Taylor added 89 runs for the fourth wicket in a quick time.
It also includes a 34-run over from Shivam Dube but Navdeep Saini and Bumrah’s spell in the middle overs alongside Shardul Thakur and Sundar in the death helped India to pull out an incredible victory from the pockets of the opposition.
I don’t think it is a massive gap – Tim Southee
Speaking of the same, Southee stated they were close in all the last three games but unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of things. He credited India for making the most of the crucial moments during the game.
However, he is hopeful of doing well in the ODI series.
”It’s another close one, unfortunately on the wrong side again. If you give them a sniff, they take it with both hands. I don’t think it is a massive gap, the scoreline does suggest that, but we only need to do the smaller things better. The ODIs are a different format, new personnel come in and it is a format where we have done well,” Tim Southee said.
All in all, it was a tough loss for New Zealand. They hardly have any positives to take from the series rather than leaving it behind.
Now, they would like to take the revenge in the upcoming ODI series, which will start on Wednesday at Hamilton.
