In the latest development, New Zealand’s Lanky fast bowler Kyle Jamieson will make his international debut against India in the second ODI which is scheduled to be played at Eden Park, Auckland on Saturday. New Zealand Cricket confirmed the news in a press release.
Kyle Jamieson who is 2.03 m (6’8”) tall was called into the national squad for the last two Tests against Australia but he did not play. The lanky pacer was also not in the team’s playing XI for the opening one-day match against India at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday.
We are looking forward to seeing Kyle Jamieson play: Shane Jurgensen
New Zealand bowling coach Shane Jurgensen, who is in charge of the team for a limited period of time with Gary Stead taking a week off, told reporters on Friday that Kyle Jamieson is a tall man and they are looking forward to seeing Jamieson play.
“He’s obviously a huge man, at 6 foot eight he’s quite an imposing sight, so we are looking forward to seeing what he can do. He’s got good skills with the new ball, he’s a good athlete and he can bat a bit as well, so has a lot of potential,” Jurgensen told the reporters at the pre-match press conference.
Jamieson has featured in three unofficial one-day games for New Zealand ‘A’ against India ‘A’ in Christchurch last month. He went wicketless in the first game, giving away 60 runs in his bowling spell. However, he responded well in the next two games as he took six wickets. He picked up 2-69 and 4-49 in the second and third game respectively.
