Bangladesh will look to return to winning ways after a poor start in the Nidahas Trophy. They suffered a humiliating loss against India by six wickets. However, they will look to bring a change in their fortunes when they take on host Sri Lanka tomorrow.

Off late, Bangladesh has a poor record against Sr Lanka losing both the Test and T20I series back at home. However, they will look to play spirited cricket under their new interim coach Courtney Walsh.

Bangladesh is missing the services of their regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who is out due to injury. As a result, senior players need to stand up and take the onus on themselves to bring positive result for their side.

Here is the predicted XI of Bangladesh for the match against Sri Lanka:

The southpaw has been in decent form off-late and will be keen to put up a fine performance. He is their star batsmen, and Bangladesh will depend on him to get a good start.

Meanwhile, he got a good start against India but failed to capitalise on it.

Soumya Sarkar:

Soumya Sarkar is another fine young player, who was impressive in the T20Is against South Africa last year. He will be eager to show his command in this series.

Despite all the aggression and ability he has, the youngster is due to some big knocks in big matches. Soumya will look give Bangladesh a good start against Sri Lanka.

Liton Das:

The right-handed batsman was Bangladesh’s highest run-scorer in the first game with 34 runs. Although he couldn’t help Bangladesh post a defending total, Liton looked good with the bat.

Meanwhile, he will be eager to continue his run-scoring spree in the next fixture.

Mushfiqur Rahim (wk):

The 29-year-old has been outstanding in the ODIs and Tests in recent times, despite failing to perform in the recent times in the shortest format.

His record against Sri Lanka is also decent and will look to continue that. Although he didn’t score enough runs with the bat, Mushfiqur holds the key in Bangladesh line-up.

Stand-in skipper Mahmudullah needs to stand up to the occasion in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan. However, the experienced all-rounder has failed to come good in the game against India.

Mahmudullah knows the value of this game and will be eager to lead his team from the front.

Sabbir Rahman:

The swashbuckling middle-order batsman also looked good against India, however, lacked support at the other end. He smashed 30 off just 26 balls to help Bangladesh post 139 runs on the board after a middle-order collapse.

Sabbir will look to continue his form and bring his team to winning ways.

Mehidy Hasan:

The young off-spinner was brilliant against India giving away only 21 runs against a star-studded batting line-up. Although he didn’t pick wickets, he looked in great control.

Meanwhile, he along with Nazmul Islam is the nucleus of this team in the middle overs.

Nazmul Islam:

Although new in his international career, Nazmul has shown tremendous prospects with the ball. Although he went for runs in the game against India, Bangladesh will heavily rely on him.

Meanwhile, on his front, Nazmul will look to make a mark against a top team to make a strong case for himself.

 Rubel Hossain:

The right-handed bowler was the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the first game against India. He picked two crucial wickets of Suresh Raina and Rishabh Pant.

Further, Rubel will look to continue his form in the rest of the tournament. Also, he can prove to be decisive for Bangladesh.

Taskin Ahmed:

Taskin Ahmed with his raw pace and agility impressed everyone one in his debut against India. But he failed to perform with the same amount of consistency post then.

However, he has immense potential to break any batting line-up, and Bangladesh will hope his return to form.

Mustafizur Rahman:

Mustafizur Rahman has had a mediocre season with the ball, but one can never disregard this gem of a talent. Although he was a tad expensive in the game against India, he is very crucial for Bangladesh with the new ball.

Courtney Walsh, Bangladesh’s interim coach, will look forward to him to pick early wicket against Sri Lanka.
