As Rohit Sharma is leading the Team India in the first of the three-match One-day International series against Thisara Perera-led Sri Lanka, the fast bowler and new-ball partner of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah has failed to keep his foot behind the popping crease during the delivery stride at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala.

On the penultimate ball of the sixth over of Sri Lanka’s innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a fuller-length delivery, and that subsequently found the edge of Upul Tharanga’s bat which carried to gully where Dinesh Karthik got hold of the low-catch.

Tharanga’s innings included ten boundaries, as he scored at the strike-rate of 106.52.

Bumrah, who is known for bowling the brilliant line, bowled a front foot no-ball which further saw squaring up Tharanga before the slow-mo revealed the former was dejected after the third umpire declared a no-ball which further saw displayed on the giant screen inside the stadium.

However, the replays suggested it was a no-ball when on-field umpire went upstairs to clear the doubt. The left-handed batsman Tharanga survived the scare when he was batting on 11, and the Lankan score was 14. Tharanga went on to add crucial 35 runs before talking a long way back to the hut at the picturesque stadium in Dharamshala.

The senior campaigner Tharanga was dismissed on 49 off 46 balls by Hardik Pandya when Shikhar Dhawan completed a catch on the second attempt in first slip.

While shouldering the responsibility with the white-ball, the 23-year-old Bumrah was again at the receiving end when his no-ball saw the fans were dejected.

Interestingly, the very first ball of a ninth over of Lions innings was also declared a no-ball by on-field umpire Simon Fry from Australia when Bumrah dislodged the bails at the non-striker’s end with his right leg.

Earlier, India was dismissed on 112, as gloveman Mahendra Singh Dhoni steadied the ship when India was reeling at 29 for seven at one stage in 16.4 overs. Dhoni, who added 41 crucial runs for the eighth wicket alongside Kuldeep Yadav (19 off 25), was the top-scorer with 65 off 87 balls, as his innings comprised of 10 boundaries and two maximums.

The chief architect with the ball for the Islanders was pace spearhead Suranga Lakmal. He conceded 13 runs in 10 overs to claim four wickets which further saw the 30-year-old sent down the four maiden overs.
