Out of Form D'Arcy Short Opens up About his Struggles on the Cricket Field

Australia’s D’Arcy Short was a million-dollar buy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. A lot was expected from the youngster, but unfortunately, things didn’t fall in place for the Australian batsman right from the word go.

Short landed pretty late in India and got only a couple of days to acclimatise to the conditions before getting his maiden IPL game. D’Arcy Short opens up about the delay to India and spoke about his international career so far.

The stylish southpaw landed three days later in India and got only two days to get acclimatised to the conditions here. Adding insult to the injury, Short got run out in the first couple of games on a low score as well.

However, there were rumours went down saying that D’Arcy Short misplaced his passport. However, the Australian clarified the things in his recent interview with ESPN Cricinfo.

“I’m more used to it now than previously,” he tells ESPNcricinfo. I’d like to clarify. I didn’t lose my passport, the courier company did after visa stamping,” D’Arcy Short breaks into a laugh while explaining the reason behind the chaos.

“Phew, that was forgettable.” Could it have got worse? Probably not, but he was run out in the next game as well. He was a complete failure in his first season in the Indian Premier League for  Rajasthan Royals.

Much like many other cricketers, D’Arcy Short too have no ideas about the future while playing cricket. Short added he knew he would find scope in the game with the calibre he has got.

D’Arcy Short furtherly revealed he would have been the PT in a case of not being selected for the higher version of the game. However, he achieved his dream by showing some spirited performances in the Big Bash League.

“I always knew I could make it in cricket, but I just didn’t push myself hard enough until three years ago. PT could have been my fall-back plan”

However, things haven’t gone well for the youngster in the international cricket as well. Of late, the left-hander got dropped from the team and was asked to travel India with Australia-A to overcome spin issues.
