Pakistan’s newest sensation and their latest double-centurion in the world cricket, Fakhar Zaman has come up with quite a statement. He quoted that Pakistan is the favourites to win the upcoming 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.

Pakistan recently attained great success when they outsmarted Indians in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 finale. The flamboyant opener feels Sarfraz-led side will enter the grand event as the favourites.

The stylish southpaw quoted it is right for Pakistan to be called as favourites to win the 2019 World Cup. Fakhar Zaman went on add they already showed enough proofs to be termed as the title contenders.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Fakhar Zaman added Pakistan has the great combination that can beat any team on their day. Concluding on a positive note, he stated playing with the young troop will give Pakistan an edge over the other teams.

“We will travel to England to win the title and not just to make up the numbers. I do feel that it is right for us to be labelled favourites for the 2019 World Cup as our team will be well equipped for this tournament. The current Pakistan team combination is brilliant and the results we have recently produced are a good proof of that,” Fakhar Zaman said.

“There isn’t one team that one can mark as a bigger threat to Pakistan in a top-level tournament such as the World Cup. Any of India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are more than capable of winning on any given day. I feel that each match we play in the World Cup will present a different challenge and whichever team plays well on that day will emerge as the victor,” he added to his lines.

I am eager to represent Pakistan in Test cricket – Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman has done enough to show his calibre to the cricketing world. Meanwhile, he expressed his desire to serve the nation in Test format. He showed his optimism about playing for the country against Australia later in the year.

“I’m eager to play Test cricket. Currently, I’m rigorously preparing for the series against Australia and hope that I will be given an opportunity during the series,” Fakhar Zaman inferred.

All in all, it would be interesting to see how Fakhar Zaman could fare for Pakistan in Test cricket.
