Pakistan Likely to Sack Mickey Arthur and Inzamam-ul-Haq After the World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board have decided to sack head coach Mickey Arthur and chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq following the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Meanwhile, the Men in Greens have struggled in recent times leading to the marquee event which have compelled PCB to take the decision.

The board officials have decided not to renew the contract of Mickey Arthur which finishes in mid-July just after the World Cup. On the other hand, Inzamam-ul-Haq’s tenure will be over in July and PCB have no intentions to continue with him. Inzamam is presently in England and will remain there until the match against India, and according to the source, he will be involved in finalisation of the playing XI for all the games now.

Former captain Aamir Sohail is currently the frontrunner to take up the role. has in the past been the chief selector between 2002 and 2004. Pakistan will look revamp their whole squad after the World Cup to come back stronger.
“Sohail’s name is top among the list of short-listed contenders. PCB’s managing director, Wasim Khan will make the decision on new appointments for the position of the chief selector and head coach,” PTI reported.
Notably, Mickey Arthur, who has been with the side since 2016, had inquired about his extension before leaving for the World Cup. The officials had told him to concentrate on the tournament, and the decision will be taken only after the marquee event. It is also learned that the new head coach will bring his own support staffs.
Pakistan didn’t had a good time so far in England losing the ODI series against England 4-0. They will have to pull up their socks before their tournament opener against Windies on May 31.
