Former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was found guilty of infamous spot-fixing scandal alongside Mervyn Westfield while playing for Essex against Durham in the year 2009. It has been said that he was believed to have convinced Westfield to concede 12 runs during the course of the one-day game.

Mervyn Westfield was handed a 4-month prison sentence and England Cricket Board (ECB) had banned him from playing the bat-ball game for five years. Needless to say, Danish Kaneria had finally confessed to spot-fixing in 2018 after six years of denial.

In the latest development, Danish Kaneria made one more claim when he added that the bookie, who played a big role behind the scenes in the 2012 spot-fixing scandal in English county cricket was a regular visitor to Pakistan and he even sought permission of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Kaneria said that he was always portrayed from the wrong perspective.

“I have always been portrayed from the wrong angle. When people have the opportunity to speak the truth, they do not, they twist facts and tell. I am telling you the reality today. In my case, the people who introduced me to the person, who were they? My case is open to all,” Danish Kaneria said on his Youtube channel.

He also went on to claim that even Pakistan cricketers knew the spot-fixer. “The entire Pakistan team knew that person (spot-fixer) and so did the officials. That person also kept coming to Pakistan on official tours. He was invited by the PCB. I never knew that person personally. I was introduced to him by stating that both of us belong to the same religion,” he added.

Kaneria had alleged that the bookie was even known to the Pakistan Cricket Board officials. He was even worried why nobody is even talking the truth. He even admitted that he played his entire cricket with honesty.

“Why doesn’t anyone talk about this? Why don’t they speak the truth? I have played my entire cricket with utter honesty. To those who are saying I did this for cheap fame and for my Youtube channel, I want to remind them that I did not do it, Shoaib Akhtar spoke about discrimination against me on national television,” he further added in a statement.
