Mohammad Amir Returns to 16-Man Squad for South Africa Tests

Pakistan, on Friday, announced their 16-man squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Meanwhile, fast bowler Mohammad Amir and batsman Fakhar Zaman returned to the side while Mohammad Rizwan is the other notable surprise on the list.

Moreover, Saad Ali, Mir Hamza were left out of the squad, which is a significant surprise as well. Also, Shan Masood finds a place alongside Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan. With Mohammad Hafeez calling curtains on his Test career, Pakistan went with the youngster to replace him.
However, the core unit remains the same with Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq all making their availability. As usual, Sarfraz Ahmed will be leading the side with Mohammed Rizwan being the second wicketkeeper in the team. Meanwhile, Imam Ul Haq alongside the young Shaheen Shan Afridi and Hasan Ali retain their place as well. Mohammad Abbas is the other significant name on the list of retained players.

All in all, it seems like Pakistan has covered all their bases strongly with quality players on the side. Meanwhile, it would be the best opportunity for few youngsters to cement their place.
However, the three-match Test series commences on the Boxing Day in Pretoria. The second Test is scheduled in Cape Town from 3-7 January, with the series finale in Johannesburg from 11-15 January.
