Meeting a cricket star is a special moment for any fan. And when the cricket star obliges for a selfie, the moment becomes even more special. Well, a Pakistani fan recently enjoyed this moment when he met pace sensation Haris Rauf but it did not take him long to regret the meeting.
The fan had little idea about why the pacer is still in Pakistan while rest of the team is in England for the upcoming series. And when he found out the reason, he was utterly shocked.
The Pakistan cricket fan, who shared a photo of himself with Haris Rauf on Facebook, said he posed for a selfie only to realise the fast bowler’s recent Covid-19 tests results after reading up on the internet, according to Pakistan media.
The fan pointed out that he wondered after posing for the photograph why Haris Rauf was still in the country despite having been selected as part of Pakistan’s squad for the England tour. Haris Rauf missed being part of the Pakistan’s touring squad in England after he along with a few of his teammates tested positive for Covid-19.
The right-arm pacer was replaced by Mohammad Amir who left for England last week after clearing two successive Covid-19 tests. He returned positive in five out of the six COVID-19 tests he underwent last month. His fifth test came out negative but a player needs two consecutive negative results to fly out of Pakistan. The player, though, tested positive in his sixth test.
Rauf, who was set to fly to the UK on July 22 , was found to be asymptomatic and was advised to be in self-quarantine for 10 days before being tested again. But the fan was not aware of all these and gladly asked the bowler for a selfie only to regret his decision later.
