India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel made his Test debut at the age of 17 years and 153 days at Trent Bridge and became the youngest ever to sport the wicketkeeping gloves. The 34-year-old who has been in and out of the team set up for a long time knows exactly about how Rishabh Pant has been performing of late.
The veteran cricketer has now chipped in with great words of wisdom for young Rishabh Pant. The former had advised the latter to ignore criticism and primarily focus on his game. He also added that tackling with this constant pressure can help him evolve as a better cricketer.

Rishabh Pant was on the receiving end of trolls for his inability to perform in crunch situations of the game. Besides being inconsistent with the bat, he was also sloppy behind the stumps as well. After failing to perform at the highest level, fans lost trust in him. Parthiv Patel wants Rishabh Pant to focus on his game in order to get better results.
“Today’s youngsters have got that advantage of playing with the big players and sharing the dressing room with them. But when you are struggling for form, you get opinions from all quarters. It’s about keeping yourself away from opinions and focus on your game,” Patel was quoted as saying by PTI.
“If you play for India, there would be pressure. Every player has got pressure of different situations. Your skills get honed in such pressure situations.
The young wicketkeeper-batsman Pant has had a decent outing in the recently-concluded series against Bangladesh and the West Indies. After a long time, he showcased his mettle with the bat when he scored a productive 71 against West Indies at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. However, he failed to replicate a similar bit of tactics in the next couple of matches.
“In the T20 series (against WI) Pant did well. You see he’s having a fun time at the ground as well. He can become a good player when he comes out of such pressure situations,” said Parthiv on the eve of their Ranji Trophy match against Bengal.
Talking about Pant’s wicket-keeping technique, Parthiv Patel said: “Obviously when you play for India, you have something in you. He made his Test debut in a tough place like England where the ball swings a lot. He’s a young player. It’s about gaining confidence. It can change in a matter of one-two innings.”
