PCB Tells Players, Officials To Pay For COVID-19 Tests Ahead Of National T20 Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked around 240 players, officials and other stakeholders, who will take part in the upcoming National T20 Championship, to pay for their initial Covid-19 tests.

The cricket board has made it mandatory for all the individuals involved in the tournament to return two negative COVID-19 tests. Once the players and others clear the initial round of tests, the PCB would pay for the second Covid-19 test.

“The initial test the players, officials and stakeholders have to pay for themselves,” a PCB source was quoted as saying by PTI.

The PCB has not specified any laboratory or hospital from where the players, officials and stakeholders must get their initial tests done. The Board has directed its players to submit their initial Covid-19 report to their manager or coach to get the clearance.

Earlier in summer, when Pakistan team went to England with an entourage of around 42 people, the PCBhad paid for all the Covid-19 tests the players and team officials had to undergo before boarding the flight to the UK.

Schedule of National T20 Cup:

The National T20 Cup is scheduled to start on September 30 in Multan. The tournament will be played at Multan and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadiums. The first round matches will be played in Multan and Rawalpindi will host the second round and knockout matches (semi-finals and final). Central Punjab and Southern Punjab will play the tournament-opener.
