India A and Under-19 head coach Rahul Dravid responded to Ravi Shastri’s comment of ‘Best team in the last 15 years’. India’s head coach Ravi Shastri had recently said on the England tour that this current team has had the best run in the last 10-15 years. Subsequently, Ravi Shastri had to face the criticism after his bold statements. India lost the Test series in England which also added fuel to the fire for Shastri.

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid believes the media has blown the statement out of proportion. In fact, the Wall thinks Ravi Shastri himself didn’t mean what he said. However, Dravid believes that focus should not be on Shastri’s audacious comment.

Rahul Dravid feels it is crucial to learn from the mistakes and correct them on the future foreign tours.

Dravid said while talking to Gaurav Kalra on Cricket Next, “Look, I think it is a blown out of proportion comment, I think the media is blowing it out of proportion. Ravi (Shastri) has rocked up there and said something I don’t think he meant it in a way he said it – my view. But, I think that is not really the important issue. I think that is not really the point that we should be discussing, really doesn’t matter whether the team is the best or not. I think what are the lessons that we can learn from England is more important to me, so I don’t think it is worth focusing on”.

Dravid believes it is crucial for India to focus on their shortcomings. India was let down with the bat as Virat Kohli was the lone warrior. However, other batsmen were not able to hit the ground running.

“What we should be focusing on is some of the stuff we have spoken about earlier which is, how do we improve our batting in difficult conditions? How do we keep our bowlers as fit as they’ve done? What are the plus points? What have we learned? Obviously, we have done something right with our bowling attack, how do we keep doing that? How can we get our spinners bowling better in overseas conditions? How do we bat better, because we are going face such wickets, teams are going to do this. I think those are the questions that are more important to me rather than worrying about a few other things”.

Rahul Dravid has once again hit nail on the head. Dravid is always known to focus his energy on the main issues. India must try and improve as a unit to achieve success while playing in the foreign conditions.
