The inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League Rajasthan Royals have appointed Australian cricket legend Lisa Sthalekar as their advisor for youth cricket. Lisa has been appointed for the role of the advisor for junior programmes. The franchise had catapulted its programmes for Royal Colts (boys) and Royal Sparks (girls) in 2018.

Lisa Sthalekar has jetted off to Jaipur and she was part of the felicitation programme of the selected young players. In 2018, approximately 3000 children had attended the trails. The selected group of youngsters had travelled to Nagpur for high-performance training camp. Subsequently, the young blood got their chance to learn from the world-class coaches of the Rajasthan Royals.

This is a good move from Rajasthan Royals.

Lisa Sthalekar will now be responsible for creating a year-round programme for the budding players. Furthermore, she would take the onus of organising school tournaments through which the young players will be introduced to the game.

“Rajasthan Royals has done exceptional work in unearthing cricket talent. They have then been successful in providing these individuals with the right platform to grow. More so, I am delighted to be part of programmes that are giving equal opportunities to talent across girls and boys, while also spreading the reach of the game.”

“I am extremely pleased to join Rajasthan Royals as an advisor. I am looking forward to my role of identifying and nurturing cricketing talent, especially the girls so that they can make a mark for themselves in the cricketing world,” added Sthalekar as quoted by the franchise website.
