The toss took place at 9:15 AM and the game started at 9:30 AM, as per a report in PTI. The first-class games in India usually start at 9:30 AM in India, but in Kolkata, the game starts at 9:00 AM.

Early this year as well, an instance happened when Indian team was left stranded in traffic in Kolkata when former President and PM of India were in the state.

The Ranji game is currently being played at Eden Gardens and at the time of writing the news, Vidarbha were six down at a score of 135. Vidarbha have qualified for the semifinal for the first time in the history of Ranji Trophy.

The pitch for the contest is same as it was in the contest between India and Sri Lanka last month, which means that pacers will reap fruits from the track. Vidarbha, who have Umesh Yadav in its lineup, would hope their key bowler to run through a strong Karnataka batting lineup.

His participation in the contest was not sure until the eve of the game, and it was only on the morning of the game when his attendance was confirmed.

Talking of the second semifinal, both Bengal and Delhi are at the same position in the game as Bengal are three down for 132. If Delhi bowlers can provide few more jitters in the day, Delhi will hold an advantage while if Bengal batsmen can see off the bowlers now, they will run away with the advantage at the end of day 1.

The winners from semifinal games will face each other in the final to be played at Holkar stadium in Indore.
