Vidarbha batsman Ganesh Satish was left with a bloodied nose after coping a blow while fielding in the ongoing Ranji Trophy final against Delhi at Holkar Stadium, Indore.

The incident occurred in the 46th over of the innings when Delhi batsman Himmat Singh slog-swept Akshay Wakhare to deep mid-wicket. Satish came charging in from deep mid-wicket to stop the ball before it bounced awkwardly and hit him on the nose. He began bleeding profusely and sat down on the field as soon as he coped the blow before receiving medical attention.

Meanwhile, Delhi were off to a shaky start in the title decider before Dhruv Shorey Rana, and Himmat steadied the ship. Both of Delhi’s openers – Kunal Chandela and Gautam Gambhir- were back in the pavilion with only 30 runs on the board. Nitish Rana and skipper Rishabh Pant also failed to fire, both departing after scoring 21 runs each as the national capital found itself reeling on 99 for 4.

Shorey and Himmat then steadied the ship by scoring solid fifties as Delhi went for tea on 180 for 4. Shorey was unbeaten on 75 while Himmat was playing on 62.
