Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan is excited at the prospect of playing for the World XI in the upcoming fundraiser Twenty20 match against the Windies.

The charity match is slated for May 31. The iconic Lord’s Stadium will host the fundraiser between the defending Twenty20 champions Windies and ICC World XI.

Taking to this Twitter handle, Rashid wrote:

“It’s really a big honour and pride for me and my country to play for World 11 in next month May 31 in a beautiful and historical ground Lords”.

However, he will be the only representative from Afghanistan. The World XI team will consist of some big names in the United Kingdom.

Team India all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik will also be a part of the ICC World XI.

In addition, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) secretary Amitabh Chaudhary confirmed the news on Wednesday (April 25).

“Hardik and Dinesh will be part of the World XI team for the charity match,” Chaudhary said on the sidelines of an ICC meeting in Kolkata.

Barring Rashid Khan, Karthik, and Hardik, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have also confirmed their participation.

The match has been organized to raise funds for the Carribean damaged stadiums. Many of the stadiums were worst-hit due to the hurricanes last year (2017).
