Premier Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan was at his best when his side SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) took on Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL 2020 contest on Thursday. Khan not only picked up three wickets in the tie but also picked up the important wicket of Nicholas Pooran, who was looking to win the match on his own.

Chasing a daunting total of 202 runs, KXIP lost their top-order in no-time. However, Nicholas Pooran took matters in his own hands and looked to guide his team with some phenomenal hitting before he was sent back by Rashid Khan. Pooran smashed 77 runs off 37 deliveries. His knock was laced with five boundaries and seven hits over the fence.

I think it was a very crucial over, my last over: Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan picked up three wickets in his stipulated four overs spell and conceded 12 runs at an economy rate of 3. But his most prized wicket was of Pooran’s. Khan mentioned that the last over was extremely crucial for him since Pooran was looking in good touch and he tried his best to dismiss him.

“I think it was a very crucial over, my last over, because Nicholas Pooran was in the mood as well. He was going after the bowling.”

“Captain gave me the ball and I tried my best to bowl dot balls, I think the more dot balls I bowl, better are the results I get.”

“That’s what happened. I bowled 4 dot balls and then he tried to hit too hard for a single which gave me a wicket as well.”

Rashid has an experience of playing over 200 T20s where he has picked up 296 wickets. As far as his national team is concerned, he has 23 wickets in Test, 133 in ODIs and 89 in the shortest format of the game. He is one of the most valuable player in the SRH franchise.
