Ravi Shastri Catches Up With Don Akshay Kumar In South Africa

Ravi Shastri would not have expected to see too many familiar faces across the Indian Ocean in South Africa, but the India head coach met none other than Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar in the Rainbow nation.

Ravi Shastri is currently in the Africa country with the whole team for the full-fledged series against the Proteas which will kick start with the three-match Test series from January 5 in Capetown. And before the much-awaited showdown between the world’s top two Tests team, Shastri got a chance to refresh himself by catching up with Akshay Kumar.

Following the meet, the former India allrounder took to Twitter to post a picture of the same along with the caption:

Meanwhile, the upcoming series is Ravi Shastri’s first outside the subcontinent. After taking charge of the team since the away series against Sri Lanka, the head coach has experienced a very successful stint. Under his guidance, the team has won Test series against Sri Lanka and limited-overs series win against Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. Shastri will be keen to see the team continue its winning run in South Africa too where India is yet to register a Test series win.

Before departing for South Africa, he had admitted that he was wary of the challenges posed by the series away from home. He had gone on to say that the next one-and-a-half years will “define” his side.

“The conditions will be testing [overseas] but this one-and-a-half years will define this Indian cricket team,” Shastri had told reporters during the side’s pre-departure press conference in Mumbai. “The whole team is aware of that, and with tours of South Africa, Australia and England coming up in a year and a half, all I can say is this will be a better cricket team after 18 months.”
